renewing old.

so i was at my parents house for dinner and a movie this past weekend and it turns out i was able to come home with something other than the memories of a fabulous christmas movie, and a full stomach. before we started the movie, while mom was cooking dinner, for some odd reason, i decided to go through the old coat closet downstairs. i probably haven't even looked in there in 20 years, let alone think about it or even remember it really. but for some reason, on that very night, i was intrigued. and boy was i surprised.... and delighted to find these amazing vintage pieces from both mom & dad's collections. i immediately jumped to the faux fur 50's style jacket that my mom has, tried it on, fit like a glove. i was in heaven. this jacket was given to my mom from my dad's mother, and the chances of swooping that one were slim to none. i know for a fact she still wears this coat every winter. damn it. so i kept searching, just to see what other goodies were in there. sure enough, tucked away between other jackets and coats - low and behold - this chestnut colored leather jacket. the leather was buttery, it was in great condition, and i immediately put that bad boy on. now, when i say it fit like i glove, i mean it with this one. THIS was heaven. i wore it out to the kitchen, showed mom and dad and later came to find out that that this jacket belongs to my dad, who bought this priceless piece when he and my mom were in italy back in the 70's. does he wear it now? nope. have i ever seen him wear this magical piece? nope. done and done. i asked pops if i could steal and it and sure enough, i just got myself a 'new' brown, leather jacket for the upcoming winter season. couldn't be happier.

swoop! not only did i save myself a few hundred dollars and don't need to purchase a new one now, but the story behind the jacket tells all. happy wearing and many thanks pops!

so much to be thankful for.

i know it's been a while since i have posted, but between my birthday (week) celebrations, thanksgiving, more birthday celebrations, i swear time has just dissappeared. yikes! anyway, just thought i'd share some updates on my life and keep you all posted on how everything has been over the last week. photo diary here we come!

after my birthday celebrations, my friends and i decided to go to cinespace on tuesday the 23rd as we normally do. it happened to be a special occasion where djs
steve aoki & steve angello (of swedish house mafia) were celebrating their birthdays as well. (i know, november babies RULE, right?). anyway, so we saw them both perform live sets, will. i. am. was there as a special guest, and it was truly incredible to be in such an intimate venue with amazing djs and wonderful friends. each dj played some of their best stuff, and we danced the night away till 2. highlight for the night? taking pics with steve aoki. dream come true.

happy steve's day.

it's tradition that every wednesday before thanksgiving, everyone from la canada high school goes out in old town pasadena. i know that in recent years it was always at the restaurant twin palms, but as that closed down last year, the venue basically changed over to barney's kind of unexpectedly. either way, it was great seeing old frineds from high school (some of whihch i really havent seen since '03), and it was good catching up with everyone.

thanksgiving was a blast this year. i know that i have SO much to be thankful for - family and friends really the main couple of things, but so many others as well. i was surrounded by wonderful family the entire day and was blessed with an amazing meal created by my loving mother. instead of doing the normal traditional thanksgiving dinner of green beans, cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes, etc, my mom changed it up a bit and went indian style on all of us this year. we had an indian theme thanksgiving meal. tandoori turkey, indian lentil rice, punjabi sauces, palak panner (an indian spinach dish), and the really only traditional thanksgving food this year was my dessert - pumpkin crunch cake. we couldn't steer away from this dessert because it is always just so delicious. the food turned out amazing and was probaby one of the best thanksgiving meals i have ever had. thanks to all who helped prepare the meal!

after being stuffed with turkey, it was my good friend marissa's birthday on the 26th. she and i decided to kind of throw a joint 80's bowling bday bash. it was a huge success. not only was bowling fun, but every person who came was dressed up on full 80's attire. go big or go home. we were clearly the life of the party at the bowling alley, and good times were had by all.

anyway, i should be back to writing more regularly as of now. i am so happy the holiday season is here - so much to do and SO little time. to kick off the upcoming weeks, i watched
miracle on 34th street with my parents last night, and that really got me in the mood for christmas. my favorite time of year is upon us, and i fully intend to enjoy every minute of it!

birthday love.

my bday this past weekend was incredible. not only was i surrounded by loved ones, friends, and family, but each day over the weekend something fun and exciting was planned. i am so thankful to have these special people in my life and couldn't have asked for anything better.

the real celebration stated saturday morning when i met up with family for some delicious indonesian food in west covina. good times were had by all, and at the same time we celebrated my grandma's 86th bday as well. cheers to her!

after an extremely filling lunch, my girlfriend picked me up and we headed over to hollywood to check into the hotel. the girls made me oreo cupcakes (thanks cb!) that had an even better oreo surprise in the middle of the cupcake. delicious. then saturday evening came and it was guetta time. we got ready, danced in the hotel room , and stretched to make sure we were ready for the night. i opened up my bday gift from the girls and i got the ray-ban aviators that i have been wanting for forever now! (thank you!!!). we arrived at the palladium around 9 and from basically 9-3am it was non stop dancing. david guetta came on about midnight and the party was just insane. everything about his set was perfection as well as the crowd at the venue. i definitely want to see him again - it was worth every penny.

so excited with my new sunnies!

and finally on sunday (my actual bday) my soccer game was cancelled (blessing in disguise) and lounged, relaxed, and got ready for dinner with mom & pops. i got my bday gift before hand (the new ipod touch!) and headed over to the arroyo chop house - great food, holiday spirit and decorations in the air, and an overall fabulous dinner with mom and pops.

everything that i could have wanted this year, i got. so blessed for the love of family and friends in my life. here's to 25!

it's gettin' late, but i don't mind.

born as david pierre guetta (pronounced get-tah) the legend himself in the dj-ing/house world has really climbed his way to the top. he has had numerous hits on the radio and in the club scene including mixes with kid cudi, rihanna, fergie, akon, and kelly rowland just to name a few. the genius mix of pop/hip hop/house has had his music soar to the top of the charts and he has won various awards for these masterpieces. whenever his music comes on the crowd goes crazy and excitement is an understatement.

he'll be live at the palladium in hollywood on november 20th, which just happens to be right in time for my bday on the 21st! i can not control my excitement for this! after seeing him last april at coachella, the hype is high and i can't wait to go dance!

and i'll leave you with a lil something..

mm.. yes please!

all grown up.

so in the event that the new harry potter movie comes out on friday... my inner harry potter nerd is in full bloom from here on out. i can't help it. not only have read the books (multiple times), but yes, i own all the movies, and have see each one countless times as well. having said that, i would like to bring up one my favorite characters, hermione granger, played by emma watson. emma watson has completely done a 180 and has grown up from this cute, innocent, pre-teen girl, to this mature, edgy, fashion forward adult. i love the risks she takes, both on screen & off screen, love her style, and she always remains a classy lady.

some of my fav pics of her through the years:

never afraid to take a risk - love the short hair on here in the last few photos.

pairing up with fashion designer alberta feretti - their organic clothing line will debut just after christmas and i will continue to expect great things from this one.

happy harry potter!
