fashion crush.

love her or hate her... the girl is an icon when it comes to fashion. although known as the bitch on the city, she makes up for it and puts viewers in awe with her impeccable style. she has that knack for fashion. pairing unexpected items and completes each of her looks with the perfectly proportional accessories. she is notorious for pairing vintage with new, designer with non designer, and minimalism with bold. it all works for her, and clearly works for the public. here are some of my favorite outfits from her...

love love love each of these in their own way. chunky statement necklaces and hints of bold colors galore. done and done.

downtown excursion.

after watching (500) days of summer on repeat the last 6 months, i was inspired to roam the streets of downtown la and take photos of the great architecture all around. as soon as i got there i knew this was exactly what i was expecting. i LOVED every minute of it. i went with my friend paola, and we basically walked from 1:30pm - 5:30pm non-stop. even though at the end of the day we were exhausted, i got some amazing photos and it was exactly what i needed. we took the metro from pasadena to union station and pretty much went to olvera street, city hall, the bradbury building, some random condo complex for sale, over to the grand central market, angels knoll park, and walked all the way back to union station. we hit all the major spots and the highlight for me was definitely angels knoll park (the park in (500) days of summer - if you have seen the movie, you would recognize the park). all in all, it was everything i'd hoped for & more. here are some of the highlights:

1-union station
2-pretty paola sitting inside the station
3,4,5-outside in the courtyard of union station
6-view of the outside of the station
7-view of the sister cities street sign
8,9-inside the bradbury building
10-view from paola's 'dream home'
11,12-view from the park in (500) days of summer
13,14,15,16-inside grand central market
17-city hall
18-goofing around

thanks for being my beautiful model paola!

mko.

don't know what i love more about the outfit. the aviators. the chunky jewelry. the messy low pony. the oversized burnout tee. the multiple rings on the left hand paired with the chunky bracelet. all of the above. love this look on mary kate olsen, drooling over her necklaces right now. love those layers.

note to self: large oversized tee, multiple necklaces, excessive jewelry and skinny jeans. sign me up!

often imitated.

so a few months back miu miu came out with these fun satin printed platform mary janes. the print on the fabrics ranged from swallows, to flowers, to dogs, to cats, to different satin colors. each pair is funky, unique, and sure to get attention. here are some of the beauties themselves:

so pay attention to the last two images - the navy/black with the white floal print. i was browsing the forever 21 website as per my norm today when i came acrooss these bad boys in the shoe section. can we say inspiration?

forever 21 is notorious for having clothing inspiried by other designers and brands several months after those designs hit the runways. anything from marc jacobs designs to clothing from urban outfitters to fcuk. for the budget ladies (like myself) this is usually amazing, but it's all about picking and choosing each piece carefully. for the above miu miu inspired shoes, i would have to say that i 100% prefer the real deal (even though they are pretty close). thoughts?

the suburbs.

my album of the summer. hands down. thank you, arcade fire. you guys never seem to fail. although the album has been out for almost a month now, it's still at the top of my list. the first 2 albums by the band, funeral & neon bible, were interesting in their own ways, but this really stepped it up for me. 'ready to start', the second track on the album is an upbeat song with lyrics that have inspired me to really think about my life and what it has to offer. i'm probably going to be making one the biggest decisions in my life within these next few months and this song really has kept me thinking and going. this album captures the monotonous life of the same pleaces, same people things, same routines, and it pulls from old memories to really break away step outside of your own comfort zone. while this sound of arcade fire is a little different than the previous records, the same familiarity of the their piano still flows through each track, never letting you down. sitting on a rooftop, drink in hand, sunset in the background, and the suburbs playing on repeat is PERFECTION.

happy listening.

oliver peoples....

talk about obsessed much? well that i am with oliver peoples x balmain 2 sunnies. it's a true story... i really vcan't get enough. there are two pairs and both are so different in their own way. don't know which i like more, but clearly i'd love to have them both. i thought $300 was expensive for sunglasses, but im wrong. coming in at $595 each pair, this my friends, may be worth it. love the alien-esque, futuristic feel to the top pair... and the modern 2010 aviator look for the bottom.

you can purchase these bad boys here and here.

early christmas wish list? a girl can dream, right?

stockholm fashion week.

s/s 11 collections.

fashion week is a big deal around the world now matter the place. stockholm just had theirs 8/16 - 8/18. while it would have been incredible to go to, i saw everything here at home...via my trusty mac. here are a couple of the designers i loved and some of my favorite pieces:

mi lajki:
bright colors and animal prints galore. throw on some chunky jewelry... i'm sold. this line is completely magical with the literal uses of animals and animal features for masks. while i didn't love the masks so much, there were plenty of other things that really caught my eye.

cheap monday:
LOVED the color palette of neutrals (grays, black, whites) and mustard yellow! i can't stress enough how much this color rules. the the s/s 11 collection from cheap monday was amazing. this yellow paired with jeans, trousers, dresses, anything = perfection.

let the inspiration begin!

the september issue.

i love that in mid august the spetember issue of all the big fashion magazines hits the stands. it wasn't until this year that i REALLY got excited about it. each fashion magazine clearly outdues their own previous september issue, in the each one is filled with more information about fashion, beauty, tips, love, and of course trends. i recently went out and bought 4 to start: Elle, Marie Claire, In Style, & Glamour. these will be my bible the next few weeks. much to reach and much to catch up on. as in my previous post, i really can't wait for fall. looking forward to everything inside these bad boys!

happy reading!
